It's a pretty cool idea, and I love the eye. It could use some nice solid line work. Right now I'm with Cure on it feeling more 'oekaki' than pixel art.
It looks like more effort went into the shadows than the highlights and some areas are far more detailed than others.
I like it a lot, but the pixels look rather uncontrolled and is probably more 'oekaki' than pixel art.
