I love how the spotlight on this seems to get cooler in color the lighter it gets. As I've been learning about color ramps and palettes I've been encouraged to make the highlights warmer, but I see now that pixel art, though having certain qualifications to remain pixel art, does not have set rules. This is an inspiration for me to not be afraid to keep trying new things and strive to invent and innovate! You may not think much about your older pieces, big brother, but they still are relevant and mean something to up and comings like me. So thank you!
Reminds of days of the tentacle for some reason. Looks great.
Good color choices and good contrast, really amazing!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone.
@st0ven: Good call on the lighting on the hand. I noticed that myself, but forgot to upgrade the image here.
@ilKke: I tried extending the desk. I think it pulls focus away from the scene rather than pushing it against the wall because the strong corner on the desk (in the current version) helps direct the eye.
@baah: That's a big compliment! I grew up with LucasArts adventures and was inspired by the Bitmap Brothers when I started pixeling.
@buddy90: Thanks! I am especially happy with the palette. The rubbery arm might look slightly more cartoonish than the rest, but it's important to sell the idea that she has fainted (which is harder to convey in a small piece).
Is the doctor Andy Warhol and the bride Marilyn Monroe?
Because it kinda looks like it's them. :D
i really love this BB - i meant to drop in to type it earlier, but i was on mobile i think. and getting some lovely 500 error codes. I just love all the shapes, and the pixels are very clean. love the 'curls' in the hair of the scientist for example. great detail! (and keeping it simple where it needs to be in the bg). Maybe that hand pointing out can use a touch brighter highlight being directly under spotlight? so it matches the brightness of the face. im going to fav this actually :D
nice! :D, clearly a big brother piece, really thx for sharing with us
"Put that thing back where you found it!"
Very nice colours. The rendering is brilliant, but that almost goes without saying.
The slanted wall in the back makes the scene quite dynamic. Well played, sir.
Only thing I'd change, I'd extend the table to the right so it disappears intot he darkness, isntead of being cut off.
Perfect piece! The style reminds me of Lucasarts productions (monkey island) while the color palette looks a bit like the one of the Bitmap Brothers (speedball).
Fantastic palette control, might have to out them colors sometime. Your poses are always just right, good seeing more stuff from you, man.
I really enjoy this. I love the contrast between the monster and the people, they look warm and alive and he looks dead, which is the point. The only minor thing that bothers me is that the woman's left arm looks like a rubber arm, kind of. But other than that, this is amazing, and has a lot of personality, I especially like the monster's thin legs and pantaloons. :)
:O
I and the rest of the voluptuous men of the world take offense
