loving it ! this kind of square based tile map is a great idea. the only issue I see is that some tiles are almost similiar so it can be confusing.
Can't wait to see some of you characters :)
Welcome on PJ by the way ! Compatriote ;)
@_Connor : Well... I can show you the legend. I can show you the location names. But they're all in french.
Also, about the colors... well, if you have ideas on how to improve it, that could help. I tried to keep the colors saturated and highly contrasted, was it a so bad idea ?
P.S.: Here you go, legend-ed and locationNamed: img849.imageshack.us/img849/3245/mappixelnamed.png . There are still some gaps in the map, because I haven't yet defined the naming style of a few factions.
@AlexHW : Not at all. The design is actually based on a block animation from Rockman. And a block from The Legend of Zelda : Link's Awakening. But I guess it would indeed make a special minesweeper.
@cirpons : Thanks ! I was actually aiming for a very unique style :3 !
Not too keen on the palette, especially that green on the right. Also a legend would be very helpful. Maybe some names of locations too?
Yeah, I had a hard time finding something for that. If you are talking about the tile I think you are talking about (woah, that sentence actually came out \o/ !), I couldn't find a better way. I tried, and tried, and tried... and BAM!, still not good.
What about the red tile ? I have no idea which one you are talking about :x ...
Thanks for the feedback :D !
The tile with a parent and 4 children (iinsinde) are a bit unreadable. Also the red tile with the three squares inside are a bit fuzzy. Interesting concept though.
Hmm, this certainly is an original way to present a map. I like the different tiles used for the terrain.
Love this kind of tiles
