Really awesome to see this won, I'm inspired to do a piece with a similar retro colour scheme : )
Thank you @jalonso : D
Well, if you mean it as a composition problem, I can see it too, I thought you were talking about a real "weight" problem, as if the way I rendered the cloud made it look really heavy : p
I don't know how to really explain what my mind sees with the weight of the cloud. I think its a layout and composition thing and I might be influencing myself because the righthand side cloud appears to be the lefthand side of the cloud on the left cut in half and moved over without a critical eye...
...ignore me and my comment tho. Its awesome and will likely win this week's challenge. I voted for it ;)
This is my favorite entry for that challenge and a great piece by itself.
very very clean and technically sound pixeling! I love the art as well
Thanks @jalonso, I already know you and your gallery VERY well, you're amazing!
The way you mix traditional masters with pixel art is great : )
I'm happy that you chose to follow me, be sure to C&C my pixels, so I can improve : D
about the blue color, yeah, I wanted to do a subtle hue shift, it's stil an unexplored and scary technique for me, but I'm already lovin' it!
What do you mean by 'heavy' about the cloud?
Thanks @clefairykid, I totally didn't want to have a piece screaming "TATTOOS", I wanted to make it look like a vintage photo, where the character has a tattoo, not making the tattoo the main focus : p
You're flattering : D
This is terrific and your desired vintage look is totally successful. My only crit is the lowest cloud seems a little heavy. Also, the blue/purple color is wierd when zoomed but unoticed at 1X...unoticed almost always means uneccessary even though I can totally see this color in your brain when working.
The pixelling is quite good and prompted me to raid your gallery since you didn't seem familiar and noticed I had noticed you already...guess I'll have to add you to my 'list' now >.<
Wow, really surprised that no one else has commented on this, I love the colours, they caught my eye right away and then I was drawn in by the details and textures, and finally to the pose and purpose (to match the theme). I really like that, that the art itself drew me in before I realised the theme/purpose outright, it's nice to enjoy something and work your way through the bits you like without something necessarily screaming "TATTOOS!" at you :P
Thanks broski : p
