When I saw the sprites separately I thought they looked a little plain/drab in terms of color.  But viewed with the Background they pop nicely.

hah :D Sweet that my art style can be seen from a small picture like that ^^.

Also when i altered my characters appearance to a "stereotypical" badass, which was on purpose. I didint even think about Duke Nukem, till my wife told me so :D Damn.

 It feels like you're going for that stereotypical "badass" look, i.e duke nukem. But his features are lacking in some regard. His jawline/face in general on the large image, and his hair in the sprite feels like it'd benefit from more definition.
