It's not really about x colors...color-reducing even your own work is dangerously close to another no-no (removing duplicates and fusing similar colors is ok). If you're serious about pixelart you should find programs and routines that allow you to control & utilize an indexed palette. That said, PJ usually accepts a quite high color-count in mockups/gamescreens and collages, as they can be the sum of many smaller (clean) elements, but even then you should always try to keep it below the 256 color limit (8 bitplanes).
Save it as 8-bit first which will bring it down to 256. Other than that, you should remove all unnecessary colors. If you have two whites, replace one white with the other. Get what I mean?
Yeah i never really thought about that. oops. about how many colors should i try to narrow it down to?
Yeah, a ton of repeat colors and it is saved as 24bit. I still like it and think of it as pixel art. You should fix the repeat colors though.
This looks like 30 colors but is actually 3049, so it's basically a 24bit image (NPA).
it has a good, pixel-art style. you are on the right track.
