I know I should have used a transparent background, but it kinda sucked, bacause, as you said, it lacked contrast :D

What you say makes sense, but I don't know how to make two ramps go to the same color! I'll try again today.

all your darker shades are washed out, the image lacks contrast overall. if you're working on a white background then that could be a contributing factor. for submitting to PJ the white background should be made transparent, just makes for better presentation.

As far as integrating your color ramps goes, have you read the color ramps section of the pixel art tutorial? for this pallete you could have both ramps terminate toward the same dark blue or blues, there are plenty of options if both ramps are similar in color temperature.
