A mock up of one of my favorite 8 bit games, the platform adventure SwitchBlade. Always loved this game on my Amstrad CPC and later the 16 bit version for Amiga. The standard CPC disk version had the playing field as only 4 colors but a 320x200 resolution (known as the CPC's Mode 1 resolution). I loved the detail and the atmosphere created with those limitations but had wondered what it might have looked like in the lower res but higher color Mode 0 (16 colors but 160x200 resolution creating that sorta blocky wide pixel effect a lot of CPC and C64 games have). After seeing how the C64 version looked (absolutely terrible graphics with just plain drab and ugly color schemes which make the sprites really hard to make out against the backdrops) I wanted to take a shot at how the CPC would have managed it with its much more vivid and saturated 27 color palette using only 16 on screen at once as the resolution allowed. I'm pretty happy with this as I feel I did ok with the color usage and created a fun chunky feel to it. Whether its as good as the original Mode 1 graphics is personal opinion I reckon.
I really do love this game though and have been working on and off on bits of a PC remake in 640x480 resolution but a very different style to the original game.

If I was living in a different way than I was, Then I might had some different dreams about Videogame Mock-ups! Maybe I was dreaming much more about so many cool videogames that never released! Get to know!
