the colors are so familiar i have to think of only xamllew making this.
great work!
I love how you integrated warm and cool shades of greens into the scene!
just a comment on the horizon line, i suppose the argument there is at such a height you would notice a curve on the horizon with such a large flat surface as the water provides. but i dont think the canvas provides enough witdth to properly illustrate that. if it were a panoramic, i would then agree it would look a bit strange for the horizon to be completely straight throughout.
love love love it sir. and im beginning to perhaps love you as well. <3 love your deep, saturated values where nothing is overly illuminated. makes it feel extremely atmospheric.
The composition and flow of the piece feels very organic. If the horizon had a slight curvature, as though looking through a lens, or if it was just tilted a few degrees i think it'd help fit in better.
Not if there's a mountain beyond. If that's a fog in front of the mountain, then it shouldn't be so straight.
The sky gives it a very beautiful atmosphere. Well done.
awesome piece, and i really enjoy looking at your work. i really love your style, and its inspired me to start working on more landscapes again. --just wanted to say when i first looked at this image, it was kind of hard to orient myself. (not because of the horizon) ...i felt the top left of the image where the ocean meets the sky was a little empty. - also the fact that the ocean doesnt have to much detail didnt help either. honestly i didnt realize it was water until i read comments. it kind of looked like dark fog, where mountain peaks were coming through at the top. --- i made quick little edit to show how i think this image could have a little more readability..... i crudely added some height to the tree, and put waves in the water. i dont know what type of angle the waves would normally be hitting the coast, but this seemed right in my mind. http://oi50.tinypic.com/vhxk5.jpg
Thanks everyone for the wonderful feedback and critiques. To those reffering to the horizon being flat, I'm still unaware of the problem, to my knowledge the ocean horizon is always flat. :V
As soon as I saw this, I knew it was by the guy who made Woods Walker <3
Is the horizon flat because it is the ocean, the name is coastal road? Anyways, Awesome peice.
You should be hired to make promotional material for Yellowstone! :)
Its always a joy seeing u upload a new piece, especially when its a landscape.
that palette again... so damn nice. The vibrancy of the ocean/sky is just perfectly balanced. The perfectly flat horizon feels a bit inorganic compared to the overall composition, Though i'm guessing you probably aren't too concerned with fixing this up alot.
What i love here is the light... that are consistent on whole scene. Nice work!
@ Theoden: Thanks. I would mainly attribute my color choices from simple studying of nature, I often go out with my little sketchpad and sketch pine trees, clouds etc. I've never had any sort of schooling and my grasp of color theory is basic to say the least.
@Gecimen thanks, although I'm not too clear on what you mean about the sea and horizon line.
This is really good. I always loved your choice of colors. Did you study color theory or attend some art school?
All good except the sea and the horizon line. I like the tree on the left a lot.
Very nice landscape
