Very pretty clouds and water really like colors.

 not a question of detail, question of acidity. better result with pastel colors for background.

The background is way too detailed for the sprite, the plants look almost 3D pre-renders (not saying they are) while the character looks like plain 2D paper. It's good pixeling thought.

 The sprite is too good to be wasted.

You definitely have some mad spriting skills. Although, your scenery skills could do with some improvement.
