Hmm I dont often comment but never knew it seemed this way. Ok my main point is that you left the black and green outlines you drew. Instead at this point you shoud get into pixel level detail and change these outlines until they look realistic. Mainly sketchy means that you havent polished the piece. Also the dents of the pineapple should be getting different lighting.
Thanks man, I appreciate the feedback. I knew most of this already, but it literally felt like I reached a plateau as I got to this point in the piece. I knew there were things I could do that would increase the quality, but I just didn't know how to do them.
And you know... I may have been a little too ambitious... I learned that pineapples are hard to pixel.
By sketchy he means that the peice looks unfinished, like a sketch compared to a full blown illustration. A way to fix this would most likely be to anti-aliase the piece. The harsh black lines on the mouth and the eyes show very clearly the jagged edges of the square pixels. Another place that could use refining by use of a-aing would be the sprout of leaves ontop. The darker outlines of the leaves could either be less contrasting or have some a-aing. The decrease in contrast could also apply to the outlines of the mouth and eyes. Also nice job with the idea, I was going to do a pineapple also but gave up. I really like the texture of it.
Gecimen, I've seen things you write to other users, and you don't seem to often give constructive comments.
If you would do me a favor and elaborate on what you mean by "sketchy", it'd be great. It was my second attempt and I want to get better. I left the background blank because I didn't know what to do to make it look good.
Thank you. I'm learning some hard lessons, that's for sure. I don't think I should have submitted this piece. It's too unfinished.
