This was to see how photorealistical i could make something, it took me 12 colours and about 3-4 hours for the waterdrop.

I glanced a couple of times at photos of waterdrops, but kept that to a minimum.

I might/want to do more of these things, more realistic things that is.

comment me please =3

oh.. and anyone that thinks i didn't pixel it, bite me...

Chitz (Level 1 Hired Gun) at 12/20/2005 6:30:55 PM
Amazing. Looks like a water drop i saw on a pre-calc book but i was far only and only got a quick glimpse. Amazing though.

Psiweapon (Level 1 Seaman) at 12/19/2005 7:47:29 PM
Someone ought to kill you.

Now, seriously, very nice piece of work. It's asking to be made into an ad or something, just so iconic.

Aleiav (Level 2 Quiet One) at 12/17/2005 7:14:21 PM
This looks AMAZING. :) Great work!

lilhawk2892 (Level 1 Depressed) at 12/17/2005 4:40:53 PM
it closely looks like the thing i found that you copied it off and though its may only be an experiment this would be great for a logo

Lawrence (Level 10 Operative) at 12/16/2005 5:48:10 PM
That is bloody amazing! It's so realistic. I feel like I could just touch the water!

neota (Level 7 Ichikyu) at 12/15/2005 8:06:37 AM
neota (ie me) posted below. "I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, de-briefed or numbered!".

I can see you put a lot of time into this. that said, it is missing one of the primary features of water --refraction (also reflection). In particular this would increase the light level on top of the drop by a lot.
very quick edit to show what i mean
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v449/neota/aquaedit.gif
It could go a lot further than that. the light hitting the droplet side-on would also end up reflected to the top of the droplet(mostly the area nearer us -- imagine a mirror inside the drop at the same angle as the water surface to calculate that reflection.

the same applies to the front of the drop-wave, there should be some light refracted from the sides and some light reflected from the back.

whew.

snader (Level 1 Depressed) at 12/14/2005 7:27:44 PM

Stitchy: yeah i tried to make it have happy colours, as opposed to dull greys & stuff, even though it's a bit to saturated to be totally realistical. and i get what you mean about the drop, it doesnt seem to bend at the stem, but have a corner in it, ill look into it.

Gigi: ofcourse it is, it's mine.. what'd you expect? haha, thank you  -hug-

Perfectless: thanks

Faktablad: I'll look into those things, an -yay- its realistic!

B.O.B.: i'm taking jobs if they are nice and pay enough -hint hint- and you will see more of me >=3

Lunarknight: i just added that comment because a couple of my friends were unbelieving and calling it CG.. an since there are quite a lot of arguements online of what is pixel art, what is filtered etc. i thought i'd dig myself in in advance =)

Fred: that aa cost me a damn lot time =P so many curves .. soooo many curves..  and thanks for the points ^_^

Big _Brother: I suppose with the squashed part you are talking about the middle part of the rings, where the reflection crosses them? i'll try too fix that aswell =)

iSTVAN: I suppose you are talking about eh .. .. 'stem' it is resting on? I'll try to fix that, expect an update.

Panda: a pink hat? aren't panda's completely B&W?? anyway thanks for the comment and fav.

Lase: thanks, and: practice practice practice =P took me 1,5 year to get this far

Shadow_Wolf: thanks. the reason i dont have a big gallery is that i don't upload things here to show off. i let them rot in my photobucket =P only things here were my avvy and a lil' dude, but those had to be uploaded here to be used. Expect more of me though, after this warm response =)

Bb_Pie: thank you. i tried to go a bit in that direction with realism, but i allso tried to keep it a really simple picture. i often find Scenepictures ... cluttered

Alex: what.. you thought i did'nt branch off? haha.. i'm into so many things: realistic, oldschool, microscopic, animations, whatever. Even outside pixels i do lots of different things (drawing, crayons, digital paintings, vectors, even some sculpting and woodcutting)

Stitchy (Level 6 Commander) at 12/14/2005 2:37:55 PM
Wow, this is so awesome. O: <3 Very crisp and bright. One thing that bugs me though is that the reflection of the drop emerging from the water looks a little stiff and too straight... maybe add more of a curve? I dunno if that made sense, but this is simply fantastic. xD

gigi (Level 1 Quiet One) at 12/14/2005 2:11:49 PM

hey sexy

well i love this its great

perfectless (Level 1 Intern) at 12/14/2005 1:02:08 PM
wow, that's fantastic, so realisitc!

Faktablad (Level 6 SWAT) at 12/14/2005 12:53:02 PM
Amazingly realistic, especially for pixel art.  Sweet freakin' job.  The only things I can see are the things that istvan and big brother mentioned.

The B.O.B. (Level 10 Master Sniper) at 12/14/2005 11:38:03 AM
very cool. Looks like something a graphic designer might make for a client or something. I think this is the best work I've seen of yours...hope to see more.

lunarknight (Level 2 Quiet One) at 12/14/2005 10:05:49 AM
It's quite easy to tell you pixeled this and you did a great job. Keep it up!

Fred (Level 3 Enforcer) at 12/14/2005 8:05:49 AM
I very like it! I love the colors and aa. The aa is super. Shading is very good. 5 Points.

big brother (Level 8 Rear Admiral) at 12/14/2005 7:34:33 AM
I like the technique and the detail you've put into this... One thing that bothers me: the bottom of the side of the ring facing the viewer should be a more round. Right now it looks squashed (the shape looks like a mirror of the top edge).

iSTVAN (Level 8 Cannibal) at 12/14/2005 4:04:02 AM
The splash and rings surrounding it are brill, but the drops themselves don't really do much for me. They look a little too much like cylinder shaped objects, as opposed to round, smooth, shiny drops. Still, great palette work, sort of reminds me of Sonic backgrounds.

PandaPlanet (Level 2 Stalker) at 12/14/2005 3:49:09 AM
Taking my pink panda hat of for you. That's stunning work, going right into Favs.

lase_s5 (Level 1 White Belt) at 12/14/2005 3:29:28 AM
respect snader thats well realistic, i wish my talent was that madly skilled

Opacus (Level 6 Yonkyu) at 12/14/2005 1:37:23 AM
Ah Snader, I was already wondering when you would finaly post of your real arts! Seeing how you redid my bmw (You can upload your eit of that if you like, just say the original was mine and I'm happy!) I excpected you where a very talented pixel artist. And this work kinda proves it! I must say I love this work! I think I'm gonna go fav it...yeah, that's what I'll do.

Blueberry_pie (Level 7 General Manager) at 12/13/2005 11:02:24 PM
This is really good
Somewhat reminds me of the stuff those demoscene folks do.

Alex (Level 1 Thug) at 12/13/2005 9:34:26 PM
i never would have guessed you did this snader, its good to see you are branching off and trying something new.
