I used Edweard Muybridge's photos of horses in motion for reference. If you don't know Muybridge, andyou're at all interested in animation, you should Google him now.

The guy is way too large for that horse, and his movements don't make any sense.  It looks very out of place to have such an animated horse and then a man riding him where he just slides back and forth.  It also seems to me that the animation of the shading of the horse's muscles is very jumpy, but it's hard to tell with that guy there.

you have the wrong pose, try plate 626 "Annie G." galloping.

and i dont get why the guy is moving forward and backwords either.. he only bobs up and down a bit (and follows through in that motion with his legs to reduce the impact)
