Yeah, definitely reminded of 1up. Maybe you could use blue for the sleeves in order to reduce the color count? Also, I'm not sure if you're doing this already, but you could use some of the hair's browns for the orange's darker shades. And the face could still work with one less shade for AA (maybe use the hair's darkest brown to make the mouth less harsh?)
