@FlyGuy, This is only for the PJ site:
We always want in the description when a palette is borrowed because in pixleart colors and plattes are important and difficult to create for most. This helps us all learn about colors/palettes/restrictions in pixelart and look at the art in its proper context.
Otherwise colors are not owned by anyone and no one has color rights...this is seen after your forum thread.
Slightly related question to anyone who is reading the comments here ----
Does anyone know legal limitations when it comes to art? -- For instance if someone looked at a picture Jalonso drew, and then went and recreated something using the same colors and similar style and then printed it on a T-shirt. Would this be considered plagiarism if he wanted to take it to court?
-- I've always been very curious about this portion of copyright laws. In some documents I've read, it states that the literal theft of art is illegal. But no where does it say recreating it in your own way is illegal. -- I ask because I have been inspired by other peoples works in the past, and have created art in their likeness, using the same colors and styles. If I ever wanted to print one on a poster or something, I just want to know I'm not breaking the law.
---I do understand the artist etiquette of telling people who you referenced, and agree with it fully.
You might want to watch yourself with the banding in future work
---
If, as stated below, this is fanart of another piece and/or a palette is borrowed always remember to say so in the description ;)
Is this some try to remake a detail from this? Sorry if it's not.
Okay, thanks for that. :)
