Just dug up some pixels from a project I wanted to get involved with, but the artstyles didn't work out, so I got to keep these for myself, better dust it off and show it to the world says I, I overused my palette on this one though, a blistering 87 colors, that's just daft wouldn't you say?

It's quite different, that's for sure, and on top of that I've opted for hexagonal tiles, so it's a brand new world to explore, I'll do 5-7 of those tiles before posting, hopefully I'll crank out some usable gfx from this, working on a Post-Apocalyptic game that I want to release for the OUYA, and there's a lot of work to be done, you can see some sprites that I've made for that in my gallery (Wasteland Mutant, 3 Armed Freak and Hedgedog), it's lovely to be back doing pixels again for sure, it's not often I take the time! Oh by the way, I checked out your gallery yesterday, there's so much goodies there I just couldn't figure out on which to comment! But I rated most of them at least! Great work!

Cheers!

Haha, much more room! Be sure to post when you're done with them, and to just make art whenever you've got a free hour or so to stay sharp!

Yeah, tiles in this sizerange is better off in 16 colors, at tops 32, but that's a stretch really, so I need to get more comfy with smaller palettes really! I appreciate the wise words on this one! It's soon time to make tiles for another game, but those will probably be in the sizerange of 32-64 pixels so I'll have more room to get fancy :)

Yeah, I was viewing at x3 or x4 - it's still not super clear ;) Consider trying some low colour count stuff to make sure you've got the hang of making readable tiles, since it doesn't matter how nice your art looks if it's frustrating to play ;) Practice makes perfect and all that, keep at it!

Thanks for the comment, and it's as you say a bit of a mess to read, especially in 1x scale. The project that I did this to was going to render the gfx in x4 size, and checking out the map in that resolution makes it read a little bit better at least hehe, but I need to get important things to stand out more and the more decorative tiles just to flow with the general tile set! :)

Doesn't read too well because of the amount of detail and colour in such a small area. The pixel technique is all good, it's just hard to read gameplay wise.

Thanks mate! And yeah, I always have problems with grass tiles, especially when I need to keep with low pixelcount, and these are 8x8 so it's a bit to the extreme for me really! Need to work on that, I always try to find inspiration from the old SNES RPG classics as I like that style the most when it comes to RPG tile gfx! Thanx alot for the comment and glad you like it! :D

I really like that classic RPG look of this. It reminds me of Magic Candle and games like that. The only thing that bothers me is the grass tile - its too busy and too repetitive for my taste. Superb work anyways.
