One of my prefer pixel artist in the world.
I like the expression, looks like he's blindy looking the ring.
nice art, 
though imo palette you've chosen doesn't fit here, colors too warm for this creature and make him cute and happy while he's not.
But, if not to pay attention to original character, the work is very, very good!
IMO his expression looks like he is saying: "what is this?"
I really like the lively colors. They're not something I would expect on the dark dreary Gollum I know of which can be seen in the reference pictures to the side in the video. I admit his facial expression isn't he best, but I'm not entirely turned off by it.

I think he really lacks in facial expression, imo one of the most important aspect of this character.
I can't stand Lord of the Rings or this character in particular but even then I still think this is a finely crafted piece.
I love lotr and this piece is awesome. I cant wait to go to the midnight showing of the hobbit.
