Pixel Art has undeniably been steadily decreasing in popularity over the last 2 decades, but I don't ever see it truly dying. The real test will come once all of us who grew up with pixel art in games (whether they be the NES, SNES, PSX or Mobile era) have died (or have such bad arthritis we can't Pixel anymore). Somehow I can't see people who grew up with HD consoles and Vector/3D based apps on their tablets and phones having the same appreciation for Pixels we do. It does beg the question: who will keep the torch alight? I think the best hope lies in games being recognised as legitimate forms of art by the mainstream.
Also, my apologies to Tanker for the off-topic post. I don't have much to say about your truck. It's a solid piece and (I think) shows a marked improvement over your older pieces of a similar style. It would be nice to see a mockup as I could definitely picture this vehicle in an economy based RTS or TBS.
Wow, thanks for all the encouraging words. Makes me really want to pixel more often.
Some times I wonder if pixel art is dying, if pixel art does not serve any purpose.
Some times I am proven wrong in those thoughts, for example by this! This is so pixelicious!
Haha, obviously art like this tanker will keep the torch alight!
