There seems to be a lot of wisdom in your words, i'm feeling lucky, that you're sharing it with me. I will keep it in mind, and will try to always be aware of the idea, what pixel art is about. What I did was trying to capture every detail, without seeing very much, what I was doing.
I agree. Too much pixelling and lots of it not needed at all. Think cleaner on future work.
Some, when pixelling give in to their brain's need for 'detail' when in fact pixelart prefers that you as the creator suggest the details for the brain to see instead of putting them all down. This is done by planning your pixel areas, colors, technique, etc. Have you ever seen other's work that is so detailed and super complete and when you zoom in you see there's hardly nothing there at all?...that's pixelling.
I agree, but I have to say, that it was a lot of fun, polluting it :D When I did this, I used to set every pixel like it felt right for me and didn't care about systematical orders and clean looks. That felt nice, not to follow rules and districtions, just pixeling. It's obvious that this does not get the best results, especially on a more realistic than abstract piece. That's why I cancelled the work on the card game, I felt like I was not ready and there's still too much to learn for me, before I start a bigger project. Thanks for your feedback :)
I liked the line art of the frog. Just that. The work is quite polluted.
I think this pixel art had to be like your avatar: Not so polluted and with colors a bit more vibrant.
