Such a hypnotic animation. This piece is so very well done! I like how the full-color sprite comes as a surprise from seeing the monochrome preview. The movement in her face, breaking up the repetition, goes above and beyond what one would have expected. The thin strands of hair sliding out from her curls are a neat touch. You did a great job!
O M G !!!
This piece is so f***g amazing. Congratulations. Max rate and faved.
love the detail on the bouncy hair, wow!
(btw, there's a typo on the preview image, it spells "preveiw")
Duuuude, thats a badass animation ç.ç I really need to improve my crappy animations xD
I thought I'd faved this already.. I had it zoomed in on my screen for a while just for eye candy's sake. So good and her expression is sweet.
Well shaded, amazing, fluid sprite! Fantastic work!
Originally saw this on your blog and loved it! I agree, there's a great sense of weight achieved by how much you've overlapped the bow and hair.
I really like how you broke up the cycle in the face, and also the slight tilts you have on the head. Very nice and very solid. Good luck on Skylark!
Love this! The high contrast on the facial features work well to attract the eye. The delay in the hair's movement gives it solid, believable weight. With this style, you can really showcase your animation talent without getting caught up with shading and AA. Well done!
Thanks for all the kind words folks, I really appreciate it! I have to upload more stuff here in the future~
Yeah, I was not 100% happy with how the bangs animated. I spent a long time tweaking them, and in the end I was happy to just have them avoid creating tangents or obscuring portions of her face, while still having a flow to how they move.
The ribbon though, I wanted to have a great deal of weight. So I made it as though it was trying to catch up to her head, and maintain that momentum when she tosses her head in the opposite direction, slightly compressing and lifting upwards until she tilts away from it again and it can relax. Though, I think I could've conveyed that a lot better as well, and have the middle of the bow follow the head much more closely.
Thanks for the critique~
Nice to see this here too! I think I am the one who said that you should upload it here :)
There's something that I thought felt unnatural, and after studying the animation for a long time I think I pinpointed it : The head has a subtle movement that indicates it tilts toward one shoulder at a time. The bangs don't follow completely, but it's not distracting since it's discrete. However, the bow (ribbon) in hair lags so much behind the head movement that it is completely inverted, it doesn't seem connected at all.
Glad to know that sealark has been sucsessfuly funded!
Looks cute!
That blink and the extra head tilt to the left every three bounces makes this piece that much better.
Keep on pixelin!
This would be good as a still, but the smooth animation makes it fantastic. I love the colors. Very crisp.
the cell shading gives a great idea of depth, it really feels like 3D
well done !
The strands of hair that bounce out away from the curls is my favorite part. Very smooth.
I've seen this somewhere, maybe tigsource. Great work, such a fluid animation
Very well and smooth done, bravo.
