They all look great. The 4th one on the top row reminds me of Saya from Blood-C.
What's your game about?
Great as usual.
Yeah, a big problem I'm trying to contend with is how it's going to display on different screens.
Yeah, it gives many troubles when you're making game with pixel art.
Yeah, a big problem I'm trying to contend with is how it's going to display on different screens. I'm using MonoGame, and the idea is to get it to run on just about everything, but high-res tablets and such are becoming more and more common, and 4k monitors are on the horizon. The game is gonna need to be blown up pretty substantially. So I feel like if I pixel the tiles too, it's going to look weird if there's any non-pixel art in the entire game, like portraits or menus or even fonts. There have been a few professional games that used sprites against non-pixel art backgrounds, and it doesn't look too bad, I guess. I might be able to get away with calling it style or something.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback!
Your painting is fine, really - look like it could be refined some more, but the style is there.
Yet yeah, it kinda make a clash with the pixel character... But that may depend on the zoom level.
I mean, at zoom x1, it looks perfect to me., you don't really notice that clash. Or at least, it isn't bothering me at all. That's a different story at x2+, so that'll all depending on what you want to do, I guess. :)
However, perspective-wise, to me it looks like it'll work perfectly. The character fits in there, it doesn't look odd ot me.
All I can say at this point is good luck, your style is really lovely, and I'll be waiting to see more of this. :)
Thanks! I'll be doing 3/4 perspective, although I'm actually still struggling to figure out what I'm going to do for tiles. I've been down the road of trying to do 100% pixel graphics I personally made for a game in addition to all of the writing, design, and programming, and I don't care to do it again. I'm considering painting them since it's a lot faster than spriting, but the style clash is a little odd, and it's still a lot of work.
I actually did a quick style test for painted tiles the other day:

So as you can see, it's a little weird, not to mention I'm way better at pixels than painting. I don't think I can afford to put more time than that into them, though.
These characters looks awesome. I'd love to see how they would fit in a background, too see how you handle perspective and such, but they really look lovely <3
Noyce ! I wanna pet that fluffy skake !
