A fully rendered observational photostudy/experiment I did back in November.
My approach was to try if hyperrealistic art would be possible with pixels, even if I'd limit myself with a color restriction and I also tried to avoid the Cel-shading effect pixel art usually has.
From the technical side I put lots of attention to the gradients and edges. The restricted color range causes imo a really clear view on the subject, which feels slightly different than the real world, but serves the hyperrealism and the exaggeration of details.
It's meant to be viewed at 100%, if viewed bigger the illusion is destroyed.
Took about 3-4 hours, 23 colors + transparency
