If you're looking for a graphics editor for pixel art, GrafX2 is nice.
I know what you mean, I've tried a bit at animation in GIMP but it's very wierd :/. Graphics Gale is much more suitable for it.
I find GIMP difficult for pixel animation in general and most of the time goes on how it will be on the paper. I can show you this on these examples: imagine this process as a design of the clockwork with many individual pieces; Sky island is similar to the cloud castle that floats smoothly or a giant fantasy creature that surrounded by a flock of birds. Take ideas from nature!
Good idea, I'm still learning how to use Gimp but as soon as I grasp most of the tools I'm gonna try to implement animation into my stuff.
Yeah you are right. So far I have not really used any type of light source on this island or my previous one. Thanks for noticing though, I'm definitely gonna improve on the next one I make.
Looks very nice and it's easy to imagine in motion with more details. The animation of this floating island would be great!
Nice idea, but you seem to have rushed through the realisation. Here are a few problems I can see :
The lighting is inconsistent : Appart from the trees, one could not tell where the light source is, and the shadows on the crystals and the soil are in contradiction with the the shadows of the trees. The trees have some kind of depth, but not the other elements, the waterfall seems really flat.
Possibly the pallete could use some working on, I might come back to this when I have aquired a bit more skill.
