I actually disagree. Should be up to the artist what 'scale' his work is intended to be viewed at. Certainly if the site supported a custom default zoom I would have mine all zoomed up to be as it would look natively on a 320x240 resolution display as that's what I design all my stuff for (mostly retro game stuff) and that's certainly a bit more than simply x2 on most modern resolutions.
I find this piece more endearing as a somewhat 'blocky' pixelised piece too.
Sorry guys i'll fix this when i'm free of work to do. I'll try to get rid of banding too or whatever. Many thx for the help!!!
Domo arigato!
1x please. There is a zoom function (crisp in Firefox if that's the issue).
Pixel art is usually best viewed at x1 or x2, according to monitor resolution. The best scale is that where both overall image and pixel-level refinements are visible at once and produce the kind of 'conflict' in the viewer's brain that is the main reason why PA is so effective. That is lost at higher scales.
No problem. And yes, always try to learn from everything you see. It's a slow process, but if you keep trying you'll see progress soon enough :)
Please don't submit scaled art. This piece looks very good but fix the size in both pics: normal, and preview.
Hey Franuka many thx for your opinion and advice, much appreciated. I guess i´ll get the hang on things making more and more stuff. And of course watching the pros.
You shouldn't resize your pieces that much unless really necessary. There's a zoom function on the gallery :)
Regarding this, I really like the contrast and colours.
There's a lot of noise (stray pixels) and banding, though.
On the other side, the dog's shape is pretty nice.
And welcome, by the way!!
