It's a start. Because you haven't studied cat anatomy extensively, you should be using a reference. Take a photo of your cat or look at cats on google and try to draw what you see. If you try to draw from your mind without knowing what your subject really looks like, then you will inevitably draw using symbols instead of forms. Pay special attention to the size of the cranium, size of the eyes in relation to the head, the manner in which the ears attach to the head, and the shape of the snout. Additionally the eyes are rather dark and the light source is indeterminate. To practice shading, start by sketching basic geometric forms (cylinder, sphere, cube) according to a defined light source.
