The small legs are so smooth <3 : D if only the tail could be a bit out of sync with the hair
Megaman's sprite had 5 colours, but it consists of 2 OAM objects, basically 2 superimposed sprites. Contra does the same where the topbody is a seperate sprite from the legs. This sprite could easily be in an NES game!

Not to nitpick (I'm just being a jackass, here) but aren't NES sprites limited to three colours, plus one background/transparency colour? The sprite is lovely, though, great motion in the legs :)

A related issue is the 4 unmoving pixels to the left of it.

I meant the one pixel thats trans and where the lineart jumps one pixel on/off underneath the butt lightlight.

That single pixel space where the back legs meets the body is incredibly annoying :/
I'm unsure if the tail and hair having the same animation looks good or not...every 3 seconds I change my mind.
