Yeah, i'll try to do a little bit better and get some practice. I just posted it because I wanted to have something on my profile, but thanks for the idea quskooyman i'll try that. I make a lot of sprites for different games to use. Can I have any ideas for different programs to use because I use photoshop to make this and I was wondering if its good to use photoshop. but thanks for taking a look and giving me ideas and sorry if this was long for you to read...
Why would a star have a shadow on it?
I don't mean to offend, but this piece is incredibly simple; and just about anyone could have made this within a couple minutes. Why don't you try something a bit more complex before submitting to Pixel Joint? With a good day of practice you could make a whole sky scene and not just a single star.
I find photoshop a little clunky for pixel art. Most people use either GraphicsGale (which you can get for free) or Pro Motion (which costs money). I personally use MS Paint for drawing because it's readily available, I'm used to it, and it's easy to use. Most people seem to equate using MS Paint to drawing with crayons though, because of it's simplicity. I do use Photoshop for choosing colors though. In that regard PS is extremely useful.
It's all up to you what program(s) you want to use though. Everyone works differently. Once you get the hang of pixel art and develop certain habits you'll find that some programs suit you better than others.
