Heres the same Adventure character for, walking in all 4 directions (yeah theres just a horizontal flip)

weapons will be laid over the sprite, which is currently divided into a number of layers for easy arrangement and editing

It feels a bit stiff....any suggestions? the limbs are suppposed to stay straight btw, its a style thing, though that might be the source of my problem

im considering just copy-pasting in another tween to make it smoother, but i had kinda liked the weay the 1-2-3-1-4-5 looked as opposed to the super-smooth 1-2-3-2-1-4-5-4

Rofl. xD!

He walks like a penguin!

You should probably move the feet out a little more or something.
Oh and, maybe move them closer together?

Nice work though.

His knees and elbows dont bend very much- try to improve that. His neck shoudl move more- it looks like its cemented down. and he looks like he is sliding back and forth on something slippery- might want to change that style. making his knees bend a little might help that. but other than all that, its good!

I think the head/shoulders should bob more.  And I agree with lunarknight, I hate when sprites are mirrored, especially in videogames (the two-headed ogres in Warcraft II, whose heads swapped when viewed from some angles).  The bounce of the hair is a nice touch, though, and, as with all your art, I love the palette.

I actually like them with the legs apart,  it looks kinda silly, but i like it, reminds me of charlie chaplain except not *that* odd, and i dont think its big enough to be worth quoting adam sessler at me ^^

i think i will make the limbs floppybendy, but not like bending solid portions, more bending like a noodle

thanks for the help guys!  Ill post an edit at some point

You should consider at least editting the hair when you made the horizontal flip because now that strand of hair sticking out is on the wrong side of his head....

And I agree with Wayuki, the legs are a little far apart making it look like he took a dump in his pants and doesn't want to smear it around... I think the problem is the idle pose, the outside leg is kind of "kicked" out to the side. It makes a great idle pose but really messes up your animation. So maybe making a seperate frame instead of using the idle frame will make the animation look a bit better?

The sprites themselves look great. Keep it up.

I'm sure you can sacrifice a bit of bend in the limbs to make it look a little less stiff

nice piece - but in this size 6 framecycles look much better imo

actually you're going to have to show the arms rotate a little bit, too..

like kind of rotate following the movement of his upper body, and same thing for the legs, but maybe not as much..

and if you bent the elbows and knees just a bit, it'd be perfect...

yup, that's right, I couldn't stop thinking about this one.

basically all you need to do is add a bit more upper body rotation with opposite hip/lower body rotation, and this will look perfect.

The shading and detail on this sprite is awesome, but "stiff limbs" is not a good animation style. Because that's obviously going to look... stiff. :P

Seriously, the body proportions of the sprite itself are enough to give it a cute chibi-like doll look. There's no need to keep the limbs stiff like that to enhance that look. In fact, I actually think you should animate the limbs as bendy as possible, because it's really hard to avoid the stiff look with limbs that stubby.

Also, I think his legs are really too far apart... like he's making room for an invisible third leg. o_O
