I desperately wish I could achieve people and portrait work at this scale!! With just the right balance fo smooth and texture and colour use oh myyyy <3
OH! sooooooooooo much better. The nose was the problem.
I really like the hair ("up" like Phil would say).
Nice pixelling -and edit- plus I was hoping someone would make a Zach Galifianakis entry! :D
Wow o.o now i clearly see what you guys meant with the nose thanks so much for the edit! :D
Hi! I think this shows great pixeltech, especially on the hair which looks awesome! But like Jal says the likeness isn't really there. I did an edit to illustrate it: EDIT!
The nose as mentioned by Jal comes off wrong, there isn't much volume to it and it doesn't resemble Zach G's nose. The area around the mouth is a bit odd also, at a glance it's hard to notice if there even is a mouth and it seems very small, he's got no lips. I seperated the hair and beard more clearly in my edit, when everything floats together it comes off as another type of beard and another character. Try following the reference more when it comes to the shape of the beard becuase nailing that shape goes a long way to capture the character.
To be frank most of the things I did in my edit I picked up when reworking my piece after the great edit Christoballs did on it. Keep it up, really solid AA on the whole thing.
The more rounded face is better but I actually think the bigger problem is the nose and was my original first impression of what read wrong. What you have seems more pointy or thin and upwards pointing than his nose is.
The shading on the neck feels a bit off but overall the pixelling is nice.
How is this edit, jal? http://i.imgur.com/1ww52C5.png
Did i over do it and should keep it the way it is or use the edit Dx
The hair and beard look so great at 100% with that nice dithering.
I know :( I tried messing with it for the longest, it took me like 2 hours to do it but i spent about another 2 figuring out how to make it look more like him and retouching the colors and stuff xD Thanks though!
Looks good bro! Saw this on main page and couldn't even tell it was your work, haha.
I really like the colors and the shading.vAlso, this piece is one of the few from this challenge that looks like a real person, and that alone is an achievement of its own.
