The preview really doesn't make the piece justice in my opinion; I guess you could add a "click me" or "preview" caption in the preview image, but enough of that, let me actually talk about the piece itself.
I think that the overall design is pretty good; the execution of the piece could have been done better though.
E.g. the chest is titled towards the viewers(as if it's a front view of the chest), while the legs are in a position, which implies that they're tilted slightly to the right; thus making that area look rather weird. I would say, leave the legs as they are, and fix the chest so it would be tilted briefly to the right, like the legs.
Other than that, the work done on the light and colours could have been improved. As of now, the lighting direction isn't very clear, almost pillowshaded, so focus a little more on the direction which the light comes from.
When looking on the colours, I notice that they're all very monochromatic and with quite low contrast; this rather makes the piece look quite boring imo. When speaking about the colours (fixing the contrast is very simple so I won't go into that)I think that you could improve this by applying the following logic to the colour palette:
Darker colours become colder (green, blue)
Lighter colours become hotter (red, yellow)
Though, simply making a hue-shifted palette without putting any attention to this "logic" could work nicely as well.
Well, that's all I have to say, sorry for the long post, but I hope that you find this helpful. :)
Thanks for the comment:) Yeah it tends to get rather stiff, struggle to get flow in the pixel art, the weight idea is very true. Thanks again^^
I really like the colouring of this, especially the highlights of the chest and the glowing crack in the sword, that's a really cool touch 8 ))
i think for me the pose could be a little more dynamic, maybe? just a casual standing pose seems maybe a bit too ordinary for a super scary demon haha. also the sword doesnt appear to be very heavy, I think maybe if you altered it so the shoulder and arm holding the sword were leaning down some more? Or if the weapon was touching the floor that would give it more support I think e ue
but I really like it!! so metal haha
Thanks for all the tips! I have problems with colors so that was useful:)
