Thanks for the comment CobaltHex.. next time I'll try a better approach on the water.
I dont care for the water, but this is otherwise great
I freakin' love this piece man. The fact that it reminds me of both FF6 and the Seiken Densetsu series is a HUGE plus. Strong work, looking forward to the next piece.
Thanks King of Games and Ottbot.
And Sertkaya, I can't take that comment too seriously cause the animation in your avatar is pretty horrid.
Everything is good but can't you make water animation more realistic?
The cliffs are really really good... reminds me of FF6.
Thanks for the comments. I am relieved.. I thought I'd have been tormented logging in
(the water animation thing).
Sohei: ♥ (joy) TY
PBCD: Thanks kindly
Zaua: True (chuckles in madness). We are in a trade (guild) and it's formal. I will make you more. (and thanks for all the faves ♥O:♥)
Jalonso: Thanks for commenting. I'll try that, I should make another alternative palette or two.. maybe a daylight version with bright light blue sky & lower contrast water as suggested.
Super 17: Always a pleasure to hear from you. Thanks for the fave and comment; please tell me more about your RPG, feel free to pm me anytime.
For a game or just fun? I'm not sure; these are definitely game elements for an idea of a game.. but I have nothing serious going on game related yet.
Very nice, I love this old school RPG style. Too many colors for my taste, but it's great nevertheless! Is this for a game or just for fun? WOuld love to play it! I'm working on a oldschool RPG Game myself for some time now and I wish someone like you could help me with it
Very interesting water that may have been even more effective if the contrast was lower because of the scale it has.
B-b-b-b-but you gave me the approbation to call you so! haha
more pixels pls master ♥
나는 어떤 마스터가 아니야!
(I'm no master)
Makes me laugh though (seriously for some reason, makes me feel like nobility or something). Thanks Zaua.
Just don't pay too much attention to the water guys kidding. Thanks a lot. I will link the reduced one in the description as well.
I prefer the colour reduced version more. This is a lovely piece regardless. The water I agree is a bit off in its animation.
I know what colors I used. All my tiles were indexed using controlled colour. I made an rgb file to get into gif form though... So I'll look into it; maybe a couple colours shouldn't be there.. I doubt it though.
If I really wanted to keep the palette limited I'd have made it like this:
i.imgur.com/pnVlpUZ.gif (taken down by 10 colour)
But I like my blues a plenty and I don't think it's overly excessive, all the colours here have a purpose at least.
Thanks a lot Crozier, the water's kinda jerky as well ..Slightly cheap on the animation there (it was a big tile). I see what you mean about the rock pattern in the back being a bit cofusing.. It's supposed to build up a bit right where the little curved wall of cut rock is, then level out after a slight mound. but in an actual game this would be at the top and you wouldn't see as much of the water at once, only 25% of it at a time; I imagined it would be steady in the background while the screen follows around the charachter to an extent.
And you'd only see that little patch of unaccessable earth when entering the manor or at the very top of the screen.
Holy crap, this is good!
The texture is superb. The colors (although a bit high for my taste) are pretty, and give a nice ominous mood. The fade to black approach in the water suits this piece well. Quite an impressive picture, I would say.
The only real faults would be the water animation and a few depth issues. As for the water, it's not really wavy, but feels more like a swinging motion. The right-most-side of the cliff (right under the castle) looks like it has some depth issues. I can't tell if the layer/platform the castle is on is above or below the structure under is. The rock pattern looks like it is building upwards, but also it doesn't. (hope that makes sense)
Cool! :-D
