Well first things foremost, that's not how a tree is shaded. What you did is a type of pillowshading, where you just shade from the outside in or the inside out. Never a good idea. You also made a type of manual gradient which, I GUESS in this style isn't wrong, but it's not recommended..
But yea, make your shading more like how a tree is actually shaded and then you'll have a better piece.
There are quite a lot of colours for this piece but it seems that it can't be helped due to the style it is in. Pretty neat pixel!
I drew this totally out of imagination. It may look better after resized to 16x16. And I guess I need more observation :) Thanks for your suggestion.
