I definitely recognized this as your style. Lots of 'lines', for a lack of a better term. 
The colors remind me of games at the dawn of the 90s (and that's a good thing.)
Nice colors. But this photoshop brushes on bg ruin everything. If there were handpixelling leaves the picture would have been better.
Interesting piece.. I noticed something right away when looking at the hands. The ulna (wristbone) bump is on the same side as the thumb when it should be on the other side.
This is pretty cool. The fact the magic... thing... gives of a yellow light bothers me. I know yellow to purple is a very common hue shift but for the piece I think it would be better if it had pink/purple highlights and moved towards a dark green.
I dread to think what happens when you open up Graphics Gale without anything in minde :P
