Not bad for only being at it 3 days! One thing you should try to avoid is banding (what you've done around the face). I know that's a mistake I would make early on but it's a habit you should break.
Dithering is used to help blend two colors together. You went a tad overboard with it (as you awknowledge) but it's always good to practice. I would have liked to see a more defined line where the lips part as well.
Practice does make perfect!
you should get rid of the two black pixels below the jaw, they are too noisy, besides that, this is good.
I actually wanted to make the 5 colors, 5 sqares behind the face, as a background, but the black sqaure in the middle I didn't like, so I just out lined the face with it. Other than that, the back ground and shading, I don't think I made double lines of the same color, atleast not on purpose.
TLDR; I do try to avoid banding.
