I like how the explosion stands out against all the blue
simply delicious
The yellow reflection on the robot's mask is very nicely done.
Thanks rafel, you are correct, the composition is strange, I wanted to add an orange rim light to the blue figure, at first I tried a sunrise as the light source but it didn't look right so then I settled on an explosion but just couldn't think of a way to tie it in to the pose so in the end left it as is because I had spent so much time on it.
Technique is very nice, but there is something strange about the composition - I can't find the connection between explosion and robot's (cyberman's?) pose. But still it looks cool, as jamon said lighting is awesome :D
Thanks ilkke, you're right, should only be about 10 - 12 colours, I'll have to check what happened there.
I know what you mean Peeter but the ref I worked from wasn't shiny metal, I'll try and post a link when I get back on my pc
Thanks ultimaodin, I was unsure about the pixels at the top of the explosion myself, may come back to it after few days and see how it looks without them.
The dithering is messy but not too bad. The specks at the top of the explosion are distracting.
Dr Who is a pretty big show everywhere.
I think you should work on the texture of the cyberman. It doesn't look like smooth, shiny metal as in Doctor Who. Otherwise, great job.
Oh, trust me, Americans know ALL ABOUT Doctor Who.
The cyberman is a bit too noisy for my tastes, but overall nice piece.
THis hen pecking thing is better than alot of the newbie dithering I see on here :0 It'd look better if you attempted to refine placement though
Trust me, we've heard of it in the states, sadly.
But Jalonso has a good point, please post a URL to any references you use.
Using the grid method is cool (original version of a ref is better so long as its not true plagiarism so when you do so then post a link to the original) but it would be better if you focused on pixeart related techniques and left this hen-pecking kinda pixelling you use here.
thanks, unfortunately I did not make it :D
