When I saw the rules for this week's challenge, I had a brief thought: why not combine two of the NES' most famous platformers together?

After about ten aggregated hours' worth of work (at least two of which I spent looking at reference material to study the 'feel' of Mega Man sprites/tiles), I present you with my Mega Man-inspired interpretation of 1-1. While inspired by Mega Man sprites/tiles, I pixelled everything save for the 'P-tank' (P for Pixel of course) myself. To fit within the color limitaions, I decided to avoid enemy sprites or any items other than the P-tank, Eddie/Flip-Top, and the one-up item. While I did change around the general layout of the stage to fit with the Mega Man aesthetic (and eliminated the 'bonus' room), I tried my best to keep the 'feel' of both SMB and 1-1 within the stage itself via the layout, tile design, and coloration.

About 10 aggregated hours, 12 colors, Dawnbringer-32 palette, 99% wholly original work (I don't count the P-tank), design inspiration via numerous sprites/tilesheets covering the NES-style Mega Man games.

I would've put a couple of Mets in there, but I had things right next to the color limit and I didn't want to risk going over.

And I made sure to add a note about the full level thing. :)

ha, excellent.  I was actually hoping someone would do something like this.

You should put at the top of the description that its the full level.  The gallery doesnt have horizontal scrolling so you need to right click>view image to see the whole thing.  I wouldnt have done so if I didnt read the full description.

Only thing I wish you would have added is putting those yellow hard hat enemies in place of where the goombas go.
