Haha, you really were'nt lying about loving nikes :P! You would get along with RAV. Great job on this!
Congrats for working from life: best practice ever =)
Now I think you need to look harder ;)
I doubt the sole shape is so simple (but what do I know about sneakers).
Shading isn't bad but can certainly be refined. There isn't much of a feeling of local volume to all the separate sneaker parts (that you isolated with dark outlines).
I'd suggest to: 1- remove all dithering (it's not good, it's useless and it's misleading and confusing you); 2- color those outlines according to what you actually see on the shoe: do they actually exist (as opposed to just being a boundary between 2 shades), are they dark (shadow) or bright, and if dark, how much exactly?
Also, banding alert!
Also instead of dithering, try some small scale detail such as stitches. No need to be true to life there because pixel size wouldn't allow for it; suggest instead of showing.
So many jaggies... I don't know that I've ever seen so many in one piece.
Thanks mate :D
