I would also like to note that the Dino Unicorn piece I uploaded in the first place was all hand drawn, no indexing was used.

I only tried indexing after someone commented about there only appearing to be 12 pixels but was actually 29.  it was something of an experiement. not fundamental to the art.

 what is the difference?  I can choose a custom index color palette and keep control over it.  why make unecessary work?

Indexing art is not a cool thing to do, k. If you want to reduce colors then do it manually. All pixelart is manual and any tool, CG, tool use is never cool.

 I re-indexed it to have 16 colors. 12 was too few.

 not sure!  photoshop told me 29 colors..  It could easily be indexed to 12 though.
