Well the image was meant to be part of the pair and as the other had more noticable animation so I jsut put a little in this one. Pixel joint didn't accept it though because I used a semi transparent layer, if you'd like to see it, here is a link http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/164/2/b/grizz_jewel_by_tabby_cat798-d68wmnm.gif
I agree with Manupix on most points. As a whole I like this piece alot. In my opinion the only part that really makes me unhappy is the bird animation. I feel that it is unnecessary and that they would still serve their purpose as static images. I love the gem though.
This is nice. Good pixeling, appealing and atmospheric landscape.
A few points could improve a bit though.
Contrast on the rocks is too low, and no obvious light source is apparent. The shading here could be used to drive the viewer's eye toward the main element of the piece (the crystal, I guess).
Although the composition is good on a purely graphic pov, it doesn't serve the intent too well: my eye is drawn more to the mountains, the crystal becomes a decoration that might or might not be there. If it actually is the main point, make it so, and arrange the landscape as the smaller bg elements of medieval painting (or the Mona Lisa!). If not, make it smaller so that it's obvious it's not central.
About colors: the piece is divided in 2 halves both spatially and color-wise: there are 2 (almost) separate palettes with little or no interaction. Color is a major element to unify a piece, by good palette construction and color recycling.
More about this here and there.
thx for the link. i liked it very much.
