Oh. That's totally what I wanted to see. Its great now :)
Google swimming + animation in google images tab if these links don't work. Try these kind of pages http://www.shoulderdoc.co.uk/article.asp?article=769
Yeah, I realized the highlight was a little hard by comparison, but I thought that gave more of a wetness effect. Maybe the effect wasn't as I thought after all.
Jal, I updated it with a scale texture and a softer highlight. What do you think?
Also, can anybody point me toward a reference to help me animate this guy swimming? I've been having a hard time finding anything myself. I can find diagrams, but I'd like to see an actual animation to model after.
My bad. That makes sense. (I still feel the highlight colour is too contrasted though compared to the rest of the ramp)
No I meant more specular highlight to indicate wetness. Say shadows scales on the bottom and highlight scales on the top.
I think what Jal means is that your highlight colour is very contrasted in comparison to the next lightest orange colour and it makes the highlight feel a bit jaggy. I must also agree about the scales for the sakes of the gallery at least. Very good none the less.
Thanks guys!
@Jal: by hard highlight, are you talking about the kind of highlight I have right below the dorsal fin? If not, maybe you could show me what you mean? I had originally intended to do scales, but ended up not. The sprite is only in the game for about a second and a half, so that much detail isn't really needed... but I might still do it for practice's sake
Real nice, tho a little hard highlight (look wet) and maybe some subtle scale texture in the shadow areas could make for a better sprite.
lovely! The scale texture is so cool
