Ah very interesting. I'll try working on some AA then. When should dithering be used might i ask? And who are some of the best pixel artists you're talking about? I couldn't say this is my very first piece. i've dabbled at pixel art a few times before, but nothing ever too serious or anything that i came to really enjoy. Thanks for your reply!!!
Dithering is not something that makes a piece better. More often than not, it makes a piece worse because it's used when it shouldn't be. Some of the best pixel artists dither very little.
I think AA is more of a fundamental pixel art strategy that you should learn.
About this piece, I like the character, but I think some of the detail of the body is rather random. If this is your first piece it is much, much better than mine was.
And welcome.
Fool and Cure are two off the top of my head. I don't think they dither much.
And dithering generally should be used when it suggests some kind of texture or when it is used in a way that blends colors without looking like it is dithered.
