Love these. I would go with either more dithering(bigger patches, not in more places) or less dithering. I think the 2px wide line looks kinda meh. The pokemon gs sprites have pretty good use of dithering in low count palettes.
Hey you are new to PJ and most welcome. All the below comparisons to oceanscented I'm sure is in no way negative. Oceanscented is highly respected and well known around here for both the style and pixelling prowess.
Ah yes -- I think I'm going to clean up the rest of the lines. Initially I thought it might be okay to leave some thick on the shadowed sides, but it didn't really end up flowing well.
And I'm really sorry that it ended up looking like oceanscented style. I hadn't seen his gallery before now but there is a definite resemblence, especially to ones he did in limited palettes. I hope this isn't too similar though.
It is actually a very different spriting style than I often used back when I pixeled a lot and I've only used it for this collection of creatures. I do a similar shading technique, which the limited colors, for making colorable adoptables, but not in such a cartoonish style. My aim was to make pixel creatures that would fit well stylistically on to something like a Tamagotchi device. The biggest critique of my old style was that it bordered on pillow shading... which hopefully, as an experiment, this helped me shift away from.
Nice overall and very oceanscented-ish in look and feel.
I will mention that in very clean work like this and with so few colors you really need to be extra clean on your lines which are messy and dirty in spots and the reason I knew it was not oceanscented's work from the preview alone.
I know. I was politely downplaying it.
Although this is a great picture, I was a little upset that it wasn't OCEANSCENTED...
A bit? It's so similar to her style: the colors, the shapes, the cartoonish look... I love this, a really goob job, makes me jealous of your style xD
Very nice. Reminds me of OCEANSCENTED a bit.
She ;)
Cute pixels here =)
