Thanks for the compliments...originally I wanted to do this piece animated. I wanted to animate the candle to throw shadows, I even did some frames and I wanted to animate the background water too + lightning...but I just dont feel pixelling in the near future.
Wonderful piece. Spectacular work with the lighting! The only thing I feel uncomfortable with is his hair. I can see it on one side but it appears to stop in the back of his head leaving an odd shape to the dear Captain's head.
I would love to see this be used somehow in a game. The atmosphere is incredible.
Wow, great atmosphere! The only things that bother me are the weirdness of his left hand (I think the fingers are exaggeratedly straight and unproportional) and the radial lighting on his head, which gives it a flat look.
Man this brings me back to some classic cinematic shots of early pc games
