Done last year for a GMPixel activity.  You had to pick only 12 colors and use them to create 12 platform characters with a general theme and each sprite, I think, could only be 30x30 maxmimum.  Due to time restraints I only got 4 done.  The warrior princess's sword has been broken to fit in the height restriction :P
The hair of the woman on the right was influenced by a Samurai Jack episode which I think was called 'Seasons' or something

That lower left purple guy is really a sweet design and a spiffy pose to boot. The darkness of his left arm makes it a little hard to make out at 100%, but it looks great zoomed in.

Wow. These certainly show a lot of skill. My only crit is that the legs of the warrior princess could have been a big longer, maybe if you made the waist a tad shorter.

My favorite of the bunch is the 2nd guy. Style and detail just drips off him.
