This boy that thumbs up was done for a 'border design' for an atari ST demo.

That's the first one i do after reading several pixel art tutorials, trying to follow most important advices.

yes.  to remove the banding you wouldn't have to change the number of colors you have at all.  Go to the wip section and ask how to remove the banding from this piece

actually the face isn't the only issue- the entire drawing suffers from major banding

 I still think the anatomy on that head looks wonky, but the rest of the pic looks good.
