 what a nice palette.
The paralax fx on the linked page is awesome.

Retronator (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 9/6/2013 16:27

Thanks ADrawingMan, it will indeed make it into her next artbook, which makes me very happy since I even religiously made an unboxing video of her first one. </embarrassed fanboy>

Also, glad to hear some of you actually like the outlines. Thank you!

I demand more, great colors.

Very unique. I wish you the best of luck in the contest.

I must comment this and I totally agree with Carnivac, finally something really different here. It is truly differenet and appealing, excellent work. Beautiful use of colours, its just so breathtaking... the only nitpick I could think of are the edges of buildings, you could have used smoother colour instead of pitch black...it would have been perfect.

Carnivac (Level 8 Shodan) @ 9/5/2013 02:37

One of the most appealing and visually striking pieces on this site for a long time.  Lovely use of colour.

Friend (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 9/4/2013 18:29

I actually like the black outlines.  It adds to the style, really.  And this is one of my all time favorite pixels

user
Retronator (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 9/4/2013 17:30

Well, I'll definitely have to work way more on exploring the different outline styles and when to use which. Thanks for giving me pointers what to look into. I'm not exactly sure why in this case I like it to be flattened liked that. I guess I need to try and redo a version without the outlines and compare and see if I can make it better than this. Otherwise, I'll just do new works with different styles to try and learn.

Thanks again to everyone for the nice words and the favorites.

Redshrike (Level 8 Marshal) @ 9/4/2013 15:32

Gonna agree, the internal black outlines on the buildings are a big problem.  Internal outlines are a lot worse than external ones for flattening an image, so it's likely you'll reap most of the benefits by just having the outside of hte building be outlined while maintaining the visual separation you have now.

AllybertToth (Level 1 Thug) @ 9/4/2013 14:47

I really like the way the you've used the colour black, it's really intense in the foreground, then only used as an outline, then not at all. I get the impression that it's kind of like a stylised version of how people see things (literally) like, how, without realising what we are concentrating on is focused and what we are not is blurry, using outlines to show that is a really unique idea!

w4rlock (Level 5 Sniper) @ 9/4/2013 05:32

 Awesome !!!

user
Ambient (Level 6 Major) @ 9/2/2013 22:25

This is quite beautiful, but I too don't like the outlines. I feel like the 40 colors could be better used.

user
tjlaxs (Level 1 Rookie) @ 9/2/2013 20:54

I love the colors and the clean way the houses are drawn compared to the background. <3

user
vimmel (Level 5 Detective) @ 9/2/2013 11:27

The colors are really amazing! Same here with the black outlines though. I really love the black shadows in the bottom and around though!

user
Delicious (Level 8 Regional Boss) @ 9/2/2013 10:46

This is amazing, but the black outlines on the buildings really throw it off for me.

user
zsoltbartok (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 9/2/2013 09:47

The colors are unusual but great and the parallax is a wonderful idea!

user
Retronator (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 9/2/2013 09:40

Thanks so much!

I did try it without the outlines first, but I personally liked the result much better once I had the lines too. Maybe I've been drawing too many comics lately. :)

Parallax is done using Javascript. I thought I'd have to code it myself, but someone already did a goog enough job.

And yeah, sorry about the colors FlyGuy, my taste here is again tuned to the extremes (example from my next piece). It's become kind of characteristic of me and since I personally really like it, plus it makes it stand out a bit, I just go for it even though it might raise a brow or two. Also, who knows what I'll think about it in a year or two - I've still got so much to learn. I definitely take all remarks at least into consideration. Thanks everyone for all the feedback, really appreciate it.

StoneStephenT (Level 8 Guerrilla) @ 9/2/2013 08:46

Dat parallaxing. I don't know how you didn’t lose your mind doing that.

user
JerryPie (Level 11 Godfather) @ 9/2/2013 08:32

I'm not a fan of the colors, I think they're a bit harsh for this magnificent piece. This has the makings of a truly outstanding piece of pixel art, but the pallete just works against itself in so many areas.

The parallaxing on that website is out of this world awesome. I wish that could be added to the gallery somehow. Great job though, I think this is going to score high this month.

user
iDew (Level 1 Rookie) @ 9/2/2013 04:35

I really liked the coulors. Amazing piece.

user
Theoden (Level 6 SWAT) @ 9/2/2013 04:33

This is so cool. Lovely colors and the parallax version is awesome. Did you use Javascript to do the parallax? I inspected it a little bit and I could get the layers individually as png. Would love to see more stuff like this, cheers.

user
jamon (Level 10 Operative) @ 9/2/2013 04:00

Great! i only see those black outlines like problem.

user
eclep (Level 5 Detective) @ 9/2/2013 04:00

The colors are amazing!

I'm not a big fan of the black outlines though, I think they stand out too much

user
Dredlockz (Level 5 Detective) @ 9/2/2013 03:51

that's beautiful, man.
I though you could get away with using less colours, some of those are reaaally similar.

user
uhmmm (Level 1 Intern) @ 9/2/2013 02:35

Cool~ I love the colors you used. c:

user
r1k (Level 1 Rookie) @ 9/2/2013 02:24

very nice.  The bright colors and use of black kind of remind me of some contemporary comic books.  I also get a little bit a nes batman feeling in some of the areas with lots of black.

user
Ashkin (Level 8 Rear Admiral) @ 9/2/2013 02:19

Utterly fantastical.
