This is a tileset mockup of something I made just a few days ago. It's a location called "Reoteer Slums" from my fictional game, Super Dragonsin Saga.
Reoteer Slums is the impoverished downtown area outside the jurisdiction of Pinnacle City. Many robots and people escape there to leave behind the harsh communistic rule of the city proper. Gang fights there happen often, drug deals are a common sight and the crime rate is astronomical. But if you look hard, you can find many civilized musical artists trying to make a living among the rusted confines of this place.
My aim for creating this tileset was to convey the dreary, run-down atmosphere of Reoteer Slums. In order to survive, many of the robots there have to hoard and ration what little energy they have. I wanted to represent this concept by sparsely placing areas of glowing energy. I used Kowloon Walled City as a model. Do please excuse the high color count, as I included 3 character sprites to give a sense of proportions. |
I am not overly keen on the light greens in this piece, they contrast against the others a bit too much. I like the characters. Good stuff.
