I was inspired by ethnic music, photos of megaliths and ancient buildings.

The number of colors was reduced to 44.

And background was modified.

the background is really lame and hurts the piece

Datmuffinman's point is perfectly valid. This 80-color palette is obviously out of control, either because you don't give enough care in picking colors, or because you used NPA tools (deliberately or accidentally). Either way, it does no good to an otherwise nice piece. This is a general issue with your pixels.

How many colors are there in the example in your previous comment, not counting the frame and text? Looks like 3, but it's 5. If you get 2 unwanted colors in such a simple process, obviously you're doing something wrong.

Please specify what you mean by 'I ve used photoshop for background'. If you stick to pencil, fill, and yeah rectangle and even ellipse tools, it's pixel art because you can predict the exact effect of these on all involved pixels.
Soft brushes, auto anti-aliasing, filters and the like are NPA for the opposite reason: you let the tool control the pixels and colors.

Btw, managing large pieces with a reasonable amount of work AND total pixel control is possible with tiling. This piece could very well be made from tiles. It would look better too.

All what you can see done by hand, yellow colors too.

If you intended every single color/pixel to be where it is now, and all of similar colors were not randomly generated by a computer, yes, it is better.

This is a really nice piece of art, and I meant no offense. But still, I do not think this would be considered pixel art (especially on the yellow colors).

You can do everything, but this takes more time.

You see, it is necessary to look at everything except the background.

Background needed only to picture was not empty.

Now better?

Not gonna argue with you, but this is not "pixel art." The picture is nice, but gradient tools (or whatever else you used) are not allowed in here.

Using the rst of the tools you mentioned is allowed, however, because it just saves time in doing something that the artist could do manually. Generating 107 colors that are nearly identical to create smooth gradients is not something that (most people) can do by hand.

 You're fifteen years old. huh?

If you want to control each pixel use only a brush (pixel diametr)

If you use the fill
If you use ctrl+c/ctrl+v
If you use antialising
If you use ellipse tool, rectangle tool
IT DOESN'T BELONG IN THE GALLERY.

if you do everything by hands take too much time and effort. software designed to make our lives easier.
And the background is just a background.
Relax...

I ve used photoshop for background, thats why it " Needs some clean up."

But i dont want to clean it)

user
DatMuffinMan (Level 4 Mercenary) @ 10/8/2013 06:17

It's not pixel art if you do not have control over each color/pixel. Thus, it doesn't belong in the gallery without clean up."
