*Ducks to avoid what he's sure will be ensuing flying tomatoes!
The game is being developed in Flash, so most likely I'll be using an alpha tween so that it fades gently - I know, so not hardcore. BUT I also might just continue the flying animation since it wouldn't be that hard until it disappears off the screen entirely. Truthfully it will just depend on what looks better during gameplay. If the answer is neither than I might try an entirely new approach. Thanks for asking!
Also, I really appreciate the compliment and I've never felt more proud of getting a smiley thumbs up. Thanks!!!
The animation is quite solid. I have a question though, what happens when the soul goes off screen? You kill the enemy, this animation starts playing and...what's the end of it? I understand here on PJ it's cropped but in-game the soul will explode? Or maybe just go up until it is not seen?
Good work
But like i said it all works regardless, so it doesnt matter.
Thanks dude. The colors thing is just accurate and includes transparency although it's not used. 3 for the actual soul energy, black, and the contained transparent block. :)
As for the rest of your notes: thanks! I'll be checking that stuff out today. I love all the tutorials around here. And the work is incredible Thanks for the notes!
good animation. I dont love your choice of colors but it does work quite well. And it looks good. Theres an amazing animation tutorial made by a guy here. I forget his name but he did all that work on the platforming game about guys using guitars as weapons.
Anyway his animation tutorial might help. Also i couldnt comment on your blog so in reply to the gameboy peice you did. Look at the gameboy challenge peices to improve. Also people like carnivac and mrmo tarius. Have amazing galleries that will help with using colors better.
I hope this helps. Also i look at this piece and you dont need 5 colors. I only see three so you might want to fix that.
Nooooooooorrrll! Well, I also started using Flash at the very beginning. I'd highly recommend using Unity3D engine (especially now that they released native 2D tools) :)
