Yeah, I basically tried pack as many pixels into such a small space in regards to the helmet :P. I'll try to simplify it a bit more, especially on the darker part of the helm and the visor as failureboy mentioned. I'll add those few pixels to space it out. I'll be able to post it around midnight. Being silly is good in moderation hahaha.
Hey, thanks for the reply. I see what you mean, I'll simply the visor, helm and the face and post it later! Thanks for the feedback!
The DB32 pallete always helps something look really good But even despite that this is very cool on the pixel level, it has good readability and you're starting to pixel right the environment elements (dirt, grass, clouds). I have to point out the goodness of that hand holding the sword, it's really clean and nice looking!
Cheer up, man!
This is good. Failurboy hit the nail right on the head, my only other critique would be that I thnk the way you've made the feet, make the legs look like the swing outwards, which looks a bit odd.
Even though you're having a hard time, just go look at the last six pieces in your gallery, and be content, because really, there is a significant improving trend. You still make some small mistakes, but that should be a positive. It means you have room to grow as an artist. I'd lie if I told you that I don't see the flaws in my own work, I see loads in my latest piece, which I think is really good. :)
Its nice...you are being silly.
Only thing I don't like here is that the top and bottom touch the boundary/canvas edge and whenever I see a 'space' BG I need to see space to get a good read. Even a few pixels of space. I see what failureboy means too you did try too do too much, he's right. Self editing is a skill to learn too.
Don't be too hard on yourself; stuff worse than this gets into the weekly challenge all the time.
The visor is too messy. You're trying to do too many things there. Get rid of the bars, or the eyes, or reduce the colors at work, I think that would improve it. Also, his torso seems a little long.
Cute floating island.
Actually, its funny that you commented on here because I used colors for your spear guy to lay out the base at first (obviously those colors are gone now :P). But thank you, I too notice the difference between this and my older pieces.
@Level 1 Thank you! That means a ton (You're making me blush
:P)
@Phill Thank you! I had to study hands quite a lot on some other sprites to see how I could incorporate it into this.
Thank you guys, the feedback means so much!
